Camps
Children ages 7-12 can experience the wonders of scrub habitat during a Lyonia Environmental Center summer camp. Get close to nature while testing our field microscopes, bug boxes, 3D magnifiers and more! Campers will have fun while learning all about the plants and animals that live in the scrub and the importance of scrub habitat to each of us.
Exciting camp activities include:

Field trips

Group tours
Whether you are a novice group of naturalists or seasoned explorers we encourage all environmental enthusiasts to join us in learning about one of Florida’s unique ecosystems, the scrub. Our exceptional educational tours include in-depth discussions of the exhibits in the gallery, “green” elements of our LEED-certified building and guided hikes in Lyonia Preserve. Tours are perfect for collegiate student groups, profit and not-for-profit organizations, Florida Master Naturalists, environmental clubs, etc. For more information or to book a tour, please call 386-789-7207, ext. 253.

Homeschool programs
The LEC offers a variety of hands-on, interactive learning experiences that cover a broad range of environmental topics for homeschoolers. Our classrooms offer many resources to enhance your scientific learning experience including microscopes, dip nets, magnifiers, compasses, GPS units and more. You may choose an activity from a list of FCAT and Sunshine State Standards programs offered by the center. Scout programs
Looking to fulfill a badge requirement for your scout group? Lyonia Environmental Center offers a variety of programs that can assist you in meeting your requirements. Our nature-based programs cover topics such as environmental science, conservation, bird studies, hiking and much, much more! The LEC staff also can customize a program that will best fit your needs. Public programs
The naturalist staff at the Lyonia Environmental Center provides a vast array of public programs throughout the year. Whether your interest lies in Florida wildlife, conservation issues, gardening, the arts, or you just love getting out in nature, we have a program to fit your needs! Off-site programs
Volusia County is well known for its green spaces and parks, and the Lyonia Environmental Center staff is proud to provide programming in many of those parks! Once a month we travel to one of the county’s parks to offer a wide variety of programs. From hiking to history and bird watching, we want to showcase the county’s fantastic natural areas. Green Volusia
The Green Volusia program is a long-term initiative designed to provide residents and visitors with information about green, or sustainable, practices.

Parks, Recreation and Culture
Volusia County Parks, Recreation and Culture programs and facilities incorporate a theme that embraces Environmental, Cultural, Heritage and Outdoor (ECHO) activities and sites throughout the county.
